Information about Legislation and Ethica’s Comments/Advocacy Activites

 

Intercountry Adoption Reform Act

The Intercountry Adoption Reform Act (ICARE) was introduced in the Senate last November by Senator Nickles of Oklahoma and Senator Landrieu of Louisiana. ICARE (S. 1934) and it’s companion House Bill (HR 3896) are currently in their respective committees.

Proposed U.S. Hague Regulations

Ethica believes the State Department’s proposed regulations are a big step in the right direction—but they don’t go far enough to protect children, adoptive and birth families and, in some cases, agencies.

Individuals with Disabilities Education Act

Ethica was invited to present information to the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) on the subject of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and Internationally Adopted Children.

Romania Adoption Law

Ethica sent comments to the Romanian government on their adoption law.
