An independent voice for ethical adoption
Ethica is growing and we need your help! You can help us fulfill our mission by becoming an Ethica volunteer. Some of our needs involve particular skill sets, but many can be done by anyone with a strong interest in ethical adoption.
If you have a little extra time and would like to volunteer, please email us at ethica@ethicanet.org and tell us which of the following activities you’d like to be involved with. And, if you have interests or ideas that you don’t see on our list, we’d like to hear your ideas and suggestions!
Fundraising
A key issue for every charitable organization is fundraising. We are looking for volunteers who have experience in fundraising, grant writing, and related areas. If you have ideas or experience in this area and would like to help Ethica fulfill its mission through this avenue, write to us today at ethica@ethicanet.org.
Approximately 800 people a day read our Ethica news updates and the number is growing each month. Our country and state updates are particularly popular. But keeping up with all 50 states and dozens of countries is a big task.
We are looking for volunteers who can monitor email lists, news, and websites daily for information on foster care, adoption, and child welfare news. These volunteers would check their sites once a day and send the Ethica team email and links for our breaking news sections.
We are looking for volunteers for each state and country. And we’ll take more than one for each, too! If you have a particular interest in a state or country and would like to be a monitor, please let us know!
Issues of Interest Monitors
We’d also like a few volunteers who would like to monitor particular issues that impact adoption and child welfare practices. Examples might be open records legislation, gay adoption, unaccompanied minors, immigration law, etc. If you’d like to be an “issues of interest” monitor, please volunteer today!
Research
A vital part of our project goals, particularly for Project ETHICA, require a significant amount of research and data collection. We need volunteers who have the time and ability to gather information on specific topics as needed to meet a current goal.
As an example, one of the pieces of Project ETHICA is a database which makes financial and licensing information readily available to adoptive parents and policy makers. To accomplish this, we need people who can find information and links which are available online or from state offices.
If you have professional expertise in areas such as law (corporate, international, treaty, etc), finance (accounting, corporate, tax, non-profit), or child welfare administration (standards, accreditation, program development) and would like to become involved in the Ethica mission, please let us know!
