This is a great article. Do you have suggestions of reputable agencies doing the important work of family preservation in developing nations? I would like to get involved with one and start to make a contribution. Thanks.

Thanks so much for a great summary of the ethical issues of international adoption. Can you provide any specific advise for a US couple who prefers to build a family by adoption - providing a loving home to a child that does not have the option for a family. We set out on a quest seeking a child that truly needed us - a double orphan by your definition. But, matching programs don't allow that filter. The last thing we would want to do is remove a child from country, community and family (however defined). We do not start with the premise that life in the US is better. Are there any programs or countries that meet your ethical definition of appropriate international adoption?

Excellent article. Thanks. I remember your organization when we found out our adoption of siblings was not legal. Thank you for continuing to fight for ethical and kind adoptions. Taking the last thing a child has, his culture, may be the last straw. Not every child can adapt.
