Guide to U.S. Citizenship for Adult International Adoptees

Ethica is pleased to release a Guide to U.S. Citizenship for Adult International Adoptees.  Adult adopted persons may face grave immigration consequences if U.S. citizenship was never obtained on their behalf.  Some adult adopted persons have been deported or have encountered considerable difficulty in naturalizing after reaching adulthood.  Some estimate that the number of adult adopted persons without U.S. citizenship could number in the thousands.  Most adopted persons in this category are completely unaware that they are not U.S. citizens.

The purpose of this Guide is to highlight awareness of the need for adopted persons to confirm U.S. citizenship status, how to acquire U.S. citizenship and how to obtain proof of U.S. citizenship.
